Source: Crawfordsville Journal Review 13 July 1936
Bert, better known as Bud, Pickett, son of Charles and Mary Ammerman Pickett, was born on a farm near Alamo, Ripley Township, Montgomery County, Ind, July 19, 1872. Here he grew to manhood and April 14, 1901 he was united in marriage, to Lillie May Stull. Soon after their marriage they began housekeeping in the vicinity of Alamo and continued to live their married life in that vicinity. Seven years ago he was stricken with a serious affliction from which he was unable to recover, but during a large part of that period he made every effort to carry on with his farm work. He had been seriously ill for one month, during which time everything was done for him by the attending physician and his devoted wife to prolong his life, but the end came peacefully to him at near the noon hour, Saturday, July 11 at his home on the Perrysville Road, on the farm known as the James Swearingen farm at the age of 63 years 11 months and 21 days. He is survived and mourned by his devoted wife who has been his constant companion during the long years of his affliction; two brothers, Walter Pickett at Baker, Ore and Otto PIckett of ALamo; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Todd of Alamo and Mrs. Nettie Sawyer of Russellville; a number of nieces and nephews. Bud as he was known to his legion of friends, was an upright citizens, a good neighbor, a devoted husband. His life was lived that it was leave an impression for good upon all with whom he came in contact covering a period of years that had been lived in the vicinity in which he was born. But he was obliged to pay the price allotted unto all mankind and has gone unto his reward and may peace be unto his departed soul. -- typed by kbz -- thanks muches to Connie W. for sending this :)
