Amanda J. Vancleave was born October 5, 1852 and departed this life June 21, 1905, age 52 years, 8 months, and 16 days. She was the second child born unto Emeline and David VanCleave who preceded her to the grave several years ago, thus leaving one brother and one sister to mourn her absence from the family circle broken this making the fourth time by the hand of a just God who sees fit to relieve all his children from suffering. She was married to Johnson S. Pickett March 31, 1887, and during his life they lived in Putnam county until his death occurred April 14. 1903. Then she removed to the home of her only sister and after living with her a short time then removed with Manning to the home she has now vacated forever. Her walk through life has been truthful and upright from earliest childhood and although making no public profession of faith her life has been one that should reflect a light of untold beauty on the lives of those left behind. Our loss is her gain for there is a crown laid up above for those who believe and trust in God. As fades the lovely blooming flower so fades the life of mortal man. - kbz
