Little Pauline Pickett died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm Parks last Sunday morning, aged three months and five days. The mother of this babe died about two months ago leaving it to the care of its grandparents, and though everything was done that loving hearts and tender hands could do death came and the frail spirit took its flight to be with the mother so lately gone before. -s

There are times in the history of every individual when acts of love, charity and kindness find deep and permanent lodgment in the human heart.
In May last the reaper, death, took from me my beloved wife and faithful companion, Elizabeth T. Pickett, and again on last Sunday the same unsparing reaper visited my family and claimed and called to her eternal home my infant daughter, Pauline. While the shock to me was great; yet the consolation and assistance afforded by our true friends was a relief that only those similarly situated can properly appreciate. I desire especially to return my heartfelt thanks to the Knights of Pythias and to Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Parks and Messrs. Samuel and John Shular who so kindly and cheerfully assisted me in this, my greatest time of need. I want to assure them that their many acts of kindness and generosity were appreciated in the highest degree and will ever be treasured in kindest remembrance. -s
