Levi A. Pickard, who has been in poor health for about a year, died on Saturday. Funeral services at the Baptist Church on Monday afternoon were in charge of SK Fuson and was largely attended. The following obituary was read: Levi A. Pickard was born May 11, 1853 in Parke County and departed this life Jan 24, 1920 making him 66 years, 8 months and 13 days. He was the son of Alexander and Sarah Pickard. He was the sixth child of a family of ten children. Only one remaining of the family, Mrs. IA Gilkeson of Crawfordsville. He was born in a Baptist home and rocked in a baptist cradle. When about 18 while attending a metting at Old Goshen he was converted, but feeling he was not worthy of a home in a Church he never united with one until the year 1909 under the pastorate of Rev. JM Caldwell; and the deceased has lived in Waveland for 42 years and it is not necessary to dwell on the good or bad of this man as his life is a testimony within itself. On the 18th of May, 1889 the deceased was united in marriage to Lavina S. Crutchfield, daughter of John and Martha Ann Crutchfield. Lavina S. Pickard departed this life on July 11, 1905. On April 30th, 1908 he was again united in marriage to Emma Poole of Rockville, who survives him. The deceased leaves a wife, one sister and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his departure. Mrs. Isaac Gilkeson of Crawfordsville, Rev. SK Fuson, JP Whitsell, Grant Poole, Clyde Poole and Mary Poole of Rockville; Henry Pickard of Ladoga; John D. Carlisle, Will Lineberry and Catherine Lineberry of Marshall; Guy Heslar, Glenn Turnipseed and wife of Lafayette and CH Poole of Kingman were among those from a distance. - transcribed by kbz
