As a result of an automobile accident which occurred Monday afternoon Leonard Phebus died at the hospital in Danville, Ill Tues. afternoon. The car in which he and James Morris were riding was struck by a Big Four engine. The body was removed to the Berhalter & Olmstead undertaking establishment in Danville and prepared for burial and will be brought to the late home in Covington tomorrow. Morris is in a very critical condition and probably will not survive. Phebus, who was 40 and Morris who is about 19, started for Danville in their auto late in the afternoon and had reached the Big Four RR crossing, W. of this city (Covington) when the Eastbound passenger, due here at 3:21 struck them. The full details of how the accident happened have not yet been learned. The automobile was completely wrecked. Phebus was a well known business man. He was in the automobile business here. Morris is a young chauffeur of the city. -- typed by kbz
