WAVELAND – Carl C. Porter, 91, of Rt. 1, Waveland, died Sunday in Vermillion County Hospital at Clinton. He had been ill since Oct. 7. Mr. Porter was a member of the Marshall Federated Church and a charter member and former chairman of the Parke County Farm Bureau. He was a farmer in Greene Township in Parke County for 60 years. He was a graduate of Waveland High School in 1906 and a graduate of Purdue University School of Agriculture in 1910. Born July 13, 1885, he was a son of Rufus and Mary Ball Porter of Greene Township, Parke County. He married Margery Fordice on April 13, 1916, in Putnam County. Survivors include his wife; a son, Hugh of Veedersburg; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ella Spencer of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Ruth Vaught of Rockville; and eight grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Marshall Federated Church with the Rev. Fred Stewart officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before the service. Burial will be in Portland Mills Cemetery.
