Richard Judson “Dick” Phillips, 39, of 1107 Danville Ave., died at 4:30 a.m. today in Culver Hospital after a long illness. He had worked for Plastene for 10 years and had been a pilot flying for Bowles Seal Fast, Burger Chef, Dalton Foundries, Burton Plumbing, National Homes and Roark’s Welding & Engineering. He was a 1956 graduate of Crawfordsville High School and attended flight school at Ft. Worth, Tex. Born Jan. 25, 1936, at Crawfordsville, he was a son of Judson and Stella Phillips. He was married to Barbara High of Crawfordsville on May 5, 1958. She survives. Also surviving are four children, Veronica Lynn, Ricky Judson, Gregory Richard and Gary Richard, all at home; his mother of Crawfordsville; and a sister, Sonja Newton of LeRoy, Ill. Arrangements are incomplete at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. The family has asked that contributions be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. – jlr
