NEWTOWN, Ind. (CNS) -- Mrs. Esther C. Pevler, 73, a life resident of the area, died yesterday (March 2, 1969) at Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where she was spending the winter. Born June 1, 1895, at Newtown, she was the daughter of Robert and Minnie Reed Campbell. She was married, June 23, 1919, at Newtown, to Omer Pevler, who survives. Mrs. Pevler was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Kappa Alpha Pheta Sorority, Quigle-Palin American Legion Post Auxiliary and Book1overs Club. She was a graduate of Newtown High in 1913 and from DePaul University in 1917. She taught in area schools for 25 years, retiring in 1954. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Robert Towns of Florrissant, Mo., and Mrs. James R. Germany of Mansfield, Ohio, three sons, Robert G. of Lafayette, M. Sgt. Webster B. of Mathis Air Force Base, Calif., and Patrick G. at home and 12 grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Wednesday at Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Heemstra will officiate. Burial will be in Newtown Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Tuesday.   --typed by Walt W

NEWTOWN – Mrs. Esther Pevler died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, March 2 at the Las-Olas General Hospital, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. where she and Mr. Pevler were spending several weeks. She had suffered a heart attack 10 days ago and had been in serious condition since then. Mrs. Pevler, a lifelong resident of Newtown, was born in Newtown June 1, 1895, the daughter of Robert and Minnie Reed Campbell. She graduated from Newtown High School in 1913 and from DePauw University, Greencastle, in 1917. She had taught in Newtown and Mellott schools for 25 years retiring from teaching in 1964. She was married to Omer Pevler June 23, 1919 at Newtown. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Social Sorority at DePauw; Newtown Presbyterian church; the Quigle-Palin Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary and Book Lovers Club. Survivors besides the husband are: two daughters, Mrs. Robert Towns of Florrissant, Mo. and Mrs. James Germany of Mansfield, Ohio; three sons, Master Sergeant Webster B. Pevler stationed at Mathis Air Force Base, Sacremento, Calif.; Robert G. Pevler, Lafayette and Patrick at home; and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 at Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro with burial in Newtown Cemetery. Rev. Peter Heemstra officiated. – typed by jlr
