Mrs. Almyra Petty died at the home of Mrs. Jennie Hanna, in Crawfordsville on Thursday morning. She had been ailing for some time, but death came unexpectedly. She was the daughter of Robert McMains, one of a family of 13 children, and lived on the old homestead south of town. She married John Petty of Portland Mills, Sept 12, 1868 who died in Ocmulgee, Oklahoma some years ago. To them were born 7 children: William, Mary and Ora are dead. Those surviving are Mrs. Ella Owens of Ocmulgee, Mrs. Perla Conover of Kansas City Mo and Mrs. Myrtle Alderson of Colorado Springs, Co. Only Mrs. Owens and Mrs. Conover were here for the funeral. Mrs. Alderman was absent from home and could not be reached. One son, Bert Petty, has not been heard from for 9 years but is supposed to be living. Mrs. Petty was 76 years old, being born April 22, 1842. Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Hanna on Sunday morning under direction of Rev. Wm. Kerr. The body was then brought to Maple Ridge Cemetery Waveland, for interment. The surviving brothers and sisters are Robert and Anderson McMains of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Mary E. Alfrey of the same place and Mrs. Miranda Ellis of Rossville, Ill. - transcribed by kbz
