Peterson - Solomon

Solomon Peterson, 80 years old, one of the earliest residents of Sugar Creek Township died at his home 4 1/2 miles north of here Monday morning at 3 after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Peterson was born Aug 14, 1835 on a farm a half mile south of the place where his death occurred. He had been a resident of the township all of his life and was one of the best known and most highly respected men in the county. Surviving Mr. Peterson are his widow, one sister, Mrs. Margaret Cave of Frankfort, one half-brother, David Peterson of Idaho, 7 children, 32 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. The children are Mrs. William Dunbar of Colfax; Mrs. George Barnett of Crawfordsville; Scott Peterson of Union City; Mrs. Dayton Kilgore of Clark's Hill, John Peterson, Fickel, Ind; Hugh Peterson of Darlington and Miss Mabel Peterson at the home place. Two children, William Peterson and Mrs. MIlton Geiger, preceded their father to the grave. Mr. and Mrs. Peterson were married Nov 13, 1856 nearly 60 years ago. Funearl services were held from the White Church six miles north of here at 2 Tuesday afternoon in charge of Rev. Charles Campbell. Burial was at Union Cemetery 3 miles north of the church in Tippecanoe County. - kbz
