Darlington, Oct 31 - Mrs. Nora Peterson, wife of James Peterson, a well known business man here, was found dead in bed this morning when members of the family awoke. Her death was wholly unexpected and came as a sad surprise to all the residents of this when the news spread about. Mrs Peterson retired at the usual time last evening and occupied a bed with her little daughter. When found this morning by her husband she was lying on her side and was dead. A physician who was hastily called stated that she had evidently been dead for several hours before she was discovered by Mr. Peterson. Her death was due to heart disease. On Friday afternoon she was at the home of TM Campbell and at that time she was feeling fine and played for quite a time with children. For some time past Mrs. Peterson has been greatly troubled with rheumatism and agonizing headaches. These headaches gave her great pain and affected the back portion of her brain. It is believed that her death was due to an attack of rheumatism which seized her heart. Mr. Peterson was born in May 1873 living to be past 41 years of age. She was the daughter of Wilson and Mary Hunt, well known residents of the southeast part of Madison Twp, four miles NW of Darlington. On June 10, 1892, she was married to James Peterson, who is now the cashier of the Farmers & Merchants State Bank, and president of the Darlington Telephone Company. To this union five children were born, four sons, Hubert Peterson, Chicago; Harold Peterson who is attending Indiana University at Bloomington, Ind; and Husted & Henry at home; and one daughter, Mary Hannah, also at home. Mrs. Peterson's mother also survives her, as do three brothers, John Hunt and Charles Hunt, of Monon and one foster sister, Mrs. N.F. Peacock, of Darlington. The deceased was a member of the Darlington Methodist Church having united originally with the Methodist Church at Campbell's Chapel when a young girl. She was a consistent number and good kind woman and most excellent neighbor. The funeral will occur at her late home on Tuesday at 2 in the afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. WH Nicely, pastor of the Methodist Church at this place. The interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in a family lot recently secured. Mrs. Peterson's grave will be the first in it. - kbz
