The death of Monroe Wilson Peterson, youngest son of Hon. Silas and Lorinda Peterson which occured Sabbath March 6th at five o'clock p.m. has cast a deep gloom over the entire community. Monroe was universally loved and esteemed. He possessed a superior mind and books were his idol. his habits were almost faultless; he was very quiet and reserved in his manners, but in conversation always surprised you with his knowledge. He was an indefatigable reader and his selections were of the heavier kind. In every respect he was a promising lad. The suddenness of his death, following so closely the great bereavement one week previous, when they laid to rest their little grandchild, Lora, has bowed the parents' hearts with great sorrow. Their bleeding hearts were partially healed on Saturday afternoon when Monroe called them all around the bed and gave to each a parting blessing. He arranged for the minutest details; disposed of his property creditable to a person twice his age; he spoke to each of dying and of Heaven. He urged his parents to be holy and lay up treasures above; that they could be reunited by and by. His words to his brothers and sisters will ever be a rich legacy to them. He requested the funeral services to be held at home and conducted by Rev. Jno. E. Steel of the M.E. Church. Thus has passed away one of Earth's fairest flowers. We laid his body to rest in the "old family burying ground." Over his grave we will plant sweetest flowers and an evergreen shall mark his resting place until the resurrection mon... when soul and body shall be reunited to run the high race of glory and immortality.
