Mrs. Maude Hoss Peterson, 73, 213 E. Wabash Ave., died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital. She had been in failing health several months. Born Aug. 9, 1891 at St. Joseph, Ill., she was a daughter of Frank and Charlotte Bowers Hoss. She married Clarence Sayler in 1912. He died in December 1918. In 1920 she married Harry Peterson, who died in December 1951. Mrs. Peterson was a graduate of New Market High School. She was a member of the Smartsburg Christian Church and DAR. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Sayler Wheeler of Moline, Ill., and Mrs. Marilee Peterson Clodfelter of Greencastle; four sisters, Mrs. Ruth Bonwell and Mrs. Frances Etter of New Market, Mrs. Byrde Blaser of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Creta Stallings of Cincinnati; a brother, Orville Hoss of New Market; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Peterson of Chicago, and three grandchildren. Two stepsons, Barton and Hains Peterson, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home, where friends may call. Burial will be at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.
