DARLINGTON -- C. Husted Peterson, 69, president of the Darlington Waterworks and vice president of the Farmers & Merchants Bank, died suddenly late Monday morning at his home here. He was a life resident of this community. He was a son of James A. and Norah Hunt Peterson and was born here April 19, 1899. He was married July 8, 1922 in Crawfordsville to Naomi C. Shannon, who survives. Also surviving are his father, of Darlington; a daughter, Mrs. Irv Meitus, and a brother, Henry H. Peterson of South Bend. A sister, Mrs. Lee Detchon, and two brothers, Hubert and Harold, preceded him in death. Mr. Peterson was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge 186, American Legion Post 302 and Merchants Association, all of Darlington. He was a 1917 graduate of Darlington High School and attended Wabash College, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was active here in television repair work. Funeral rites are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bright Funeral Home in Darlington, where friends may call. Rev. R. Dale Waltz of the United Methodist Church here will officiate, with interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
