John Perkins, one of the oldest residents of the city, a native of Ireland, died at his home in this city on Tuesday morning, aged 86. He was the father of five children who survive him, all living in this city except Thomas Perkins who is a conductor on the Vandalia. Mrs. Perkins died six years ago. Mr. Perkins was a good citizen and highly esteemed by all who knew him. - kbz

John Perkins, aged eighty four years, died last Tuesday of general debility. His wife died six years ago and he was living with his son on Indiana Avenue. He leaves four daughters and one son. Mr. Perkins, during his entire life, was an excellent citizen. -s

John Perkins died Tuesday morning at the home of his son on Indiana Avenue. His age was 84 years and the cause of death was a general break down of the system.  He had been failing rapidly since the death of his wife some six years since. He leaves a family of four daughters and a son with whom he had lived for some time. Funeral Thursday morning from St. Bernard’s church. Interment at Calvary. -s
