Sept. 7th at the sunset of the day and in the sunset of his life, as the shades of night fell about him, John T. Penn quietly went to sleep, to awake in another world. He was born Nov 29, 1848 in Bourbon Co, Ky, but had lived in this community since early childhood. He was a man who did well and thoroughly the things he undertook. He loved to mingle with his fellowmen and proved his worth as a good neighbor and friend to those about him. Although he had been in failing health for a long time, he bore his afflictions with fortitude and patience. His wife preceded him in death 7 years ago, since which time his daughters, Grace and Bessie, have remained at home with him. He is survived by 5 children, two grandchildren and one great grandchild - Mrs. Margaret Bailey, Walter Penn, Grace Penn, Bessie Penn, Mrs. Sallie Burroff, Mrs. Mildred Mayall, Ralph Burroff and JS Mayal, Jr. One son, Charlie, died in infancy. Goodnight beloved, not farewell. Thy presence in another home shall dwell. Lay down thy head upon the Saviors breast. We love thee well but Jesus loves thee best. Goodnight!
