Penn - Harvey
Tri-County News, Waveland, Indiana Nov 14, 1957
A 41-year-old Mecca Man, Harvey PENN was found dead in his automobile about 1:30 Wednesday afternoon by two Rosedale truck drivers, Herb Cox and Jim Martin. The car had apparently struck the abutment of the bridge which spans Rock Run Creek on US 41 about four miles SW of Rockville. After striking the bridge, the auto had plunged off the highway into a deep ravine and was not discovered until several hours after the accident occurred. Investigating state Troopers Paul Lehman and Richard Finney, Corner BM Merrell and Sheriff Earl Dowd advanced the opinion that the accident had occurred about 10 o'clock the night before. The truckers noticed the wrecked car as they drove along the highway, stopped and walked back to investigate. The car was completely demolished, and had to be moved to the top of the hill before Penn's body could be removed from the vehicle. The body was taken to the Branson Funeral Home in Rockville where friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday. Services will be held at the Funeral Home, Saturday morning at 10 o'clock with Rev. Esmund Elliott of Dana officiating. Burial in Coloma.
