Evaline Moore, daugther of Samuel and Anna Moore, was born near Waveland Aug 1, 1852 and departed this life June 14, 1914 -- age 61 years, 10 months and 13 days. On April 13, 1877, she was married to John Penn, to which union were born 5 children: Charley who died at the age of 3; Walter, Grace, Bessie and Sallie. To mourn her loss are the husband, four children, a son-in-law, dau-in-law, 5 brothers and two sisters. In the early years of her life, she gave her heart to God and united with the Christian Church at Waveland, where she remained a member until six years ago, when at her request her church home was cast with the Browns Valley Christian Church where until her death, she has remained a faithful member. The darkest night precedes a dawn. On the anniversary of the greatest event of human knowledge, at six o'clock on Sunday morning last, when the cloudless sky with all its beauty seemed for an emblem of purity, when God's brilliant sunlight cast its cheering rays into the sick room; when without the birds were singing their sweetest songs, when we seemed on the very verge of Heaven, mother's soul took its flight to be with its Maker. With all the beauty of nature, the joyful angels of Heaven seemed to sing, "Come home" and she now seems to smile her gratitude that suffering is no more. Because of the natural instincts of all life, mother has sought to live and with a courage divine has battled for months against disease, the cruel enemy of human nature, until her Savior took her soul to enjoy peaceful rest. No flower can bloom in Paradise, which has not been transplanted from Gethsemane. We children go out into the world to travel the uneven journey of life without mother's presence, but knowing that she has spent her energy, her life's toil and very being that we might grow to be better Christian men and women. It is a pleasant thought to us to know that she now abides in the palace of eternity enjoying the fruits of God's spirit. We do not wish her to return for she is better off than we. We are consoled with the fact that death is but the dropping of the flower that fruit may may grow. God's summons has come and his will be done. "After life's fitful fever she rests well. Nothing is here for tears, nothing to wail, or knock the breast, no weakness, no contempt, dispraise or blame, nothing but well and fair, and what may quiet us in a death so noble." Funeral services at the home on Tuesday afternoon were conducted by Rev. Carl Van Winkle of Irvington, pastor of the Christian Church at Russellville. The pall bearers were ladies from the Browns Valley Christian Church. interment at Maple Ridge. The large attendance was evidence of the kindly feeling of Mrs. Penn's many friends. Among others present were Mr. and Mrs. David Penn and Mrs. Leslie Carrington of Indianapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver McLeod and daughter, and Mrs. Emma Davis of Crawfordsville.
