Pendry - George

George N. Pendry was born in Yadkinsville, North Carolina, October 4, 1884, and died in Colfax on February 3, 1921, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 27 days. He came to Indiana when he was 19 years old, locating near Thorntown, where he lived for several years. He was married on November 9, 1870 to Margaret Cox and to this union were born two children, one son and one daughter, C.C. Pendry who survives and Coy, who with her mother, preceded him to the Great Beyond, the wife dying in 1878 and the daughter in 1913. On November 22, 1883, he was again married to Viola Venis and them were born seven children. Dessie, Thuman, Virgil, Russel, Mary Venis, and Marjorie, all of whom with the mother survive. He united with the Christan church at Pleasant View, east of Thorntown. He at one time belonged to the Masonic and Knights of Pythias orders and for several years was a successful businessman, retiring two years ago because of his failing health. He had lived in and near Colfax for the past forty years, and besides the family, leaves a host of friends. The funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at 9:30 at the home of Mrs. Dessie Mynes by Rev. Lee Tinsley, Interment was made in Green Lawn cemetery at Frankfort.
