NEW RICHMOND — Roy J. Pendleton, 58, of New Richmond died at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday in Culver Hospital, following a heart attack. Mr. Pendleton was an employee of Dekalb Seed Co. at Crawfordsville. He formerly had been a farmer in Benton County and was a resident of New Richmond since 1965. Mr. Pendleton had served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 445 at Goodland and the American Legion Post at New Richmond. He was born Feb. 7, 1920, in Hardin County, Ky., a son of Paul and Kathline Vowels Pendleton. In 1947 he was married to the former Barbara Miner of Lafayette, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Roy J. Pendleton Jr. at home; three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Elaine) Lidister of New Richmond, and Kathleen Pendleton and Diana Pendleton, both of Lafayette; four brothers, Raymond Pendleton of Lakeland, Fla., Burton Pendleton of Waynetown, Walter Pendleton of Lafayette and Harry Pendleton of Romney; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Stephens of Wingate and Mrs. Leonard (Martha) Fouts of West Point; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul H. Pendleton. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with Rev. Gerald Stanton officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the New Richmond American Legion. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
