Pefley - Ellen Pickering
Mrs. John Peffley (sic), one of the oldest residents of Wabash county, having located in Lagro township about fifty years ago, died at her home near Dora, at 7:10 o’clock this morning, aged sixty-five years and six months. The lady had been in failing health for several years, but her affliction did not take a serious turn until Saturday. On Saturday night it was believed she would not last till Sunday morning, but her vitality surprised her friends, and she rallied Sunday, passing peacefully away at the hour mentioned. Mrs. Peffley (sic) was a kind and loving wife and mother and a noble, Christian woman, for whom all who ever knew her felt the deepest affection. She leaves, beside her husband, three children, Arthur, of Los Angeles, Cal.; Dr. W. F. of South Bend, Ind., and Mrs. Emery Thomas, of Lagro township. The funeral will take place from the late home Wednesday morning at ten o’clock, Rev. L. L. Carpenter conducting the services. Interment in Center Grove Cemetery. --
