Vesta V. Pefley, 89, 1700 S. Monroe, died in a local nursing home Tuesday following a period of ill health. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Mennonite Church with the Revs. Ted Kuschel and Wilfred Ulrich officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery directed by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Born in April 1898 in Corbin, Kan., she came to Enid in 1902 and had lived here since. She married Lewis A. Pefley May 31, 1928, and he preceded her in death in 1969. She received her teacher's degree from Emporia, Kan., and taught at Garfield and McKinley schools. She was a member of Grace Mennonite Church. Survivors include a stepson, Don of Sand Springs, and two stepgranchildren. Memorials may be made to the Grace Mennonite Church through the church or funeral home. - Jeff S.
