Russell E. Peffley, 74, of 714 E. Franklin St. died at 5:30 a.m. Friday in Carmen Nursing Home. He had been failing in health for the past year. Mr. Peffley had worked for MidStates Wire, retiring in August 1985. He had lived most of his life in Montgomery County. He was born April 29, 1921, in Montgomery County to Clyde and Helen Peffley. He married Hazel McGee in January in 1963. She survives. Also surviving are five sisters, Opel Stephens of Vesper, Wis., Eve Pittman of Williamsport, Rosie Eader of South Bend, Mabel Walker and Mildred Pickell, both of Crawfordsville; and two brothers, Jim of Speedway and Jewel of Crawfordsville. Two brothers and a sister precede him in death. The funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in Burkhart Funeral Home with the Rev. James L. Ranard officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
