Joyce Mabel Peffley, 57, formerly of 724 N. Second St., died Saturday at 7:38 a.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center, where she had been a patient one day.
She was taken to the medical center from Stabon Manor, 1555 Haak St., where she had resided one year.
Born in Hamburg, she was a daughter of the late Charles L. and Helen (Reppert) Bower.

Peffley was employed as a secretary at the Berks County Heritage Center, Bern Township, last working in March 1996.
She was a member of Zion's United Church of Christ, Windsor Castle.
Surviving are a daughter, Angela M. Peffley, Robesonia; and a son, Steven M., Reading
Other survivors include three sisters: Grace, wife of Kerry Schartel, Leesport; Fern, wife of Warren Stewart, Hamburg; and Ruth, wife of Charles Hoppes, Lenhartsvlle, and three brothers: Lester L. Bower and Sterling C. Bower, both of Hamburg, and Paul A. Bower, Blandon.
Services will be private. The Henninger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
