Joel Peffley died at 9:30 Friday evening at the home of his son, WH Peffley in Mortonville at the age of 88. He was born in Virginia came with his parents to Montgomery County, Indiana at the age of three and had been a resident of Carroll County since 1889, becoming a member of Delphi Lodge IOOF No 28, while living at Ladoga 60 years ago. Mrs. Peffley died 16 years ago and the surviving children are Miss Clara Peffley, Chicago and WH Peffley of Delphi, besides four grandchildren. The deceased was a spiritualist and the funeral services will be held at the home of the Peffleys at 2:30 Monday afternoon by Rev, Oscar Edgerly of Chicago. Burial in the Colburn cemetery.

Ladoga, Ind – Nov 7 – Joel Peffley, a pioneer of Montgomery County is dead at the home of his son, William Peffley. He came to Montgomery County at an early date and during Indiana’s centennial wrote many interesting historical articles for the local and state press.

Concerning the statement from Logansport recently that Colonel Jacks who died there a few days ago was the oldest Odd Fellow in the State having been a member for 54 years, Joel Peffley of Delphi announces that he has been a member in good standing for the last 58 years
