Jewel R. Peffley, 74, Crawfordsville, died 3:51 a.m. Friday in his residence. Mr. Peffley worked a wire drawer in the dye room at Mid-States Wire for 37 years. His memberships included National Rifle Association and East Side Baptist Church. He attended Ladoga and Crawfordsville schools. He was born July 23, 1930, at Ladoga, to Clyde and Helen Nicholson Peffley. He married Jo Ann Overholser on Aug. 28, 1948, at Crawfordsville. She survives. Also surviving are one son John, Sullivan; three daughters, Jueleen Aver, Crawfordsville, Judy Butz, Sullivan, and Jacalyn Cowan, Speedway; one brother, Earl, Crawfordsville; three sisters Eva Pittman, Waynetown, Rose Eder, South Bend, and Mildred Pickett, Crawfordsville; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Three brothers and three sisters are deceased. Funeral services are scheduled 3 p.m. Monday in East Side Baptist Church with the Revs. Derrick Phillips and James Rivers officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery North. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Monday in the church. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or East Side Baptist Church, 2000 Traction Road, Crawfordsville, IN, 47933. Hunt & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
