Charles H (sic) Peffley of Rosedale r.r. (rural route??) 2, age 65, died at his home, Saturday evening, Sept. 23. He was born in Parke County, Feb. 20, 1902, the son of Robert E. and Jennie Belt Peffley and had spent most of his life in the county. He has been postmaster at Bridgeton since 1933 and operated the Peffley Market from 1943 to 1965. He was a member of the Bridgeton Masonic lodge, the National Association of Postmasters, the Indiana Postmasters Association and was a trustee of the Clear Run Cemetery. Surviving are the widow, Beatrice G.; tow sons, Charles E. of Bridgeton and Robert R. of Terre Haute; three sisters, Mrs. Janet Phipps of Greencastle, Mrs. Fern Williams of Indianapolis and Mrs. Frances Perkins of Plainfield; three brothers, Paul of Bridgetown, Herbert and Montelle of Indianapolis; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held, Tuesday afternoon, at the Butler funeral home with Re. H. H. Howell officiating. Burial was in Clear Run Cemetery. --- thanks, Brooke Mercedes
