Darlington - Herbert H. Peebles, 74, suffered a fatal heart attack Friday (Oct 25) at his home 4 miles SW of here. The body was found in the barn. He was born May 29, 1888 at the same farm home where he died. He was a son of Robert W. and Sarah Anderson Peebles. He married here Oct 25, 1910 to Blanche Clouser. Mr. Peebles, a 1908 graduate of Darlington HS farmed most of his life. He also was employed by the Montgomery County and Indiana Highway departments before his retirement. He was a birthright member of the Friends Church at Gravelly Run, Masonic and OES lodges of Darlington and York Rite of Crawfordsville. He also was president of Greenlawn Cemetery here. His only survivors are his wife and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, AD Peebles and sister, Mrs. Mable Weesner. The body was taken tot he Russell & Hitch Funeral Home at Thorntown where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday with Harold Chute in charge. Burial in Greenlawn cemetery here. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday.
