Darlington - Mrs. Alice R. Peebles, 82 died Sunday morning here at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Adrian Remley. She had made her home with her daughter the past 15 years. Born Feb 19, 1878 near Young's Chapel, she was a daughter of Henry and Margaret Brown Hitch. She married Orville Peebles Dec 25, 1901 in Crawfordsville. Mr. and Mrs. Peebles lived their entire life in Montgomery County. Mr. Peebles was a school teacher and farmer. Mrs. Peebles was a member of Young's Chapel Christian Church. Survivors include the daughter; a son, Donald F. Peebles Montgomery County auditor; who lives in Crawfordsville, a grandson and great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Frank Hitch. Funeral rites are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bright Funeral Home here with Rev. Maxie Smith officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Monday.
