Richard S. Pearson, a well known and highly respected old soldier, died this morning at 5:30 of dropsy, his demise occurring very suddenly. The death occurred at Mr. Pearson's home, 715 Fremont street. Mr. Pearson was between sixty-five and sixty-six years of age and has long been a resident of this city. He was a carpenter by trade and was well known as being one of the most prominent of the old soldiers of the city. He served during the last three years of the war in Company B, 120th Indiana, and was in several of the hardest battles in which that regiment participated. Mr. Pearson leaves a wife and four sons, Harry and Newt, of this city, and George and Guy Pearson, of Bloomington, Ill. The funeral will occur Monday afternoon.
