STOCKWELL – James M. Peake Jr., 30, a former resident of this area, died Thursday morning in New York City where he had resided as a freelance writer. Mr. Peake was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and Southern Illinois University. He was a member of the Christian Church at Clarks Hill. He was born in Lafayette, a son of Milton and Mary Peake. He was married May 14, 1966, to Maureen Mackie in Rhode Island. Surviving are the widow; a sister, Mrs. Martha Anne Stevenson of Lafayette; a maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ernest Clark of Rt. 1, Clarks Hill; an aunt, Mrs. Arnett Groves of Crawfordsville, and an uncle, Ross Peake of Lafayette. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Dickerson Funeral Home at Stockwell with Rev. Dean Ross officiating. Interment will be in Springvale Cemetery at Lafayette. Friends may pay respects at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Sunday. – jlr
