George E. Peters, 86, an educator more than 30 years, died Tuesday at a hospital in Tucson, Ariz. His wife, the former Clara Minnich of New Ross, survives. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Charles O. Minnich, and a sister-in-law, Frances M. Farrow, both of Crawfordsville. The deceased, a graduate of, Valparaiso University, was director of Ft. Apache Indian School, Ariz., before his retirement. He had also taught and served as an administrator in Indian schools in South Dakota, Nebraska and Washington and was associated with the Haskell Institute, an Indian school in Lawrence, Kan. He was a member of the Catalina United Methodist Church at Tucson. He was born on Dec. 10, 1882 in Mulberry. Surviving besides his wife and Montgomery County relatives are two sons, Dr. Harold T. Peters of Bemidji, Minn., and George E. Jr., of Minneapolis Minn.; a brother, Truman R. Peters of Idaho Falls, Idaho, five grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances and a brother and three sisters including Edna Snyder of Crawfordsville. Services will be held Saturday morning in Tucson and burial will be in Rapid City, S.D. – jlr
