Death Notices -- Friends may call at Hahn Funeral Home, Linden 4-8 p.m. Monday. Service in Hahn Chapel at 10 a.m. Tuesday the Rev. Dennis Zetterberg officiating.  Interment Linden Cemetery Seven grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren survive. Friends desiring may contribute to Linden United Methodist Church.

Linden - Nellie E. Payne 71, of 220 S. Meridian died Friday morning. Oct 22, 1999 at her home.  Mrs. Payne had been a lab technician for the waste water treatment plant in Linden from 1982 until retiring in 1992.  Born Aug 21, 1928 in Bainbridge, she attended Parke County schools and lived in Linden most of her life. She married Russell C. Payne on Oct 26, 1946 in Crawfordsville. He died Dec 11, 1996.  Mrs. Payne was a member of Linden United Methodist Church, a volunteer for the Linden Ambulance Service and worked with EOC Radio Communications of Storm Watch.  Surviving are two sons, Troy Payne of Crawfordsville and Russel C. "Rusty" Payne Jr of Lebanon; two daughters, Nancy Payne Yater of Winterville, NC and Cathy Williams of Midway, GA; four sisters, Mildred Hanna and Virgie Hubble, both of Waveland and Louise Nichols and Ann Billingsly, both of Crawfordsville and two brothers, Charles Stewart of Ocala, Fla and Cecil Thomas "Pete" Stewart of Marshall.
