Payne - Lodema Alexander

Mrs. Lodema Payne, 44 died at her home 4 miles SE of Crawfordsville Wednesday morning at 8:10 o'clock. Death was due to tuberculosis and followed an illness of 9 months. The deceased was born at Mt. Sterling, KY on Sept 25, 1891, the daughter of JD & Ida Quisenberry Alexander. She was married Nov 9 1908 to Charles Payne at Mt. Sterling. The family had lived in this county for a number of years. The survivors include the husband, a son, Albert L. Payne of the Rockville saniatrium; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Otte of Indianapolis and Mrs. Elsie Montjoy of Mt. Sterling, Ky; two brothers, Sherman Alexander of Mt. Sterling and Lloyd Alexander of Marion and the parents who still reside at Mt. Sterling. Two sons, Morris L. Payne and John R. Payne died a year ago last month. The funeral services will be held at the Proffitt & Sons Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Darlington. - transcribed by kbz
