Leland O. Patton, 78, Indianapolis, died Friday in Methodist Hospital. He had been a commercial artist at Detroit Diesel Allison Division of General Motors Corp before becoming Vice President and art director for Bozell & Jacobs advertising agency. He was a former president of the Art Directors Club of Indianapolis and had been a freelance artist for many companies in Indianapolis and central Indiana since 1968. Mr. Patton designed the logo for Indianapolis Power & Light Co. He was a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago and was a former student of Indianapolis artist Fritz Schlemmer. Born in Waveland, he lived here 60 years. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Darlington. Calling will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Flanner & Buchanan Broad Ripple Mortuary. Survivors: Wife Juanita Wever Patton; son, Billy Lee Patton; daughter, Patsy Boone. - kbz
