Linden -- Mrs. Laura May Patton, a former resident of Waynetown and Linden, died Wednesday morning at the Ben Hur home after an illness of 10 years. She was 84. Mrs. Patton was born at Alvin, Ill., Jan. 7, 1878, and moved to Waynetown with her family as a little girl. After living there for several years, she moved to the Linden community, where she resided for 40 years. She was a resident of the Ben Hur Home for the last six months. She was a member of the Linden United Methodist Church and the WSCS of the church. She was married to Howard A. Patton, Nov. 11, 896, at Waynetown. He died June 16, 1949. Survivors include a son, Clarence Patton of Shelbyville; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Ratcliff of Romney, Mrs. Dorris Clore of Waynetown, and Mrs. Wesley White of Linden; a sister, Mrs. Sophia Kenyon of Crawfordsville; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Four brothers and a sister preceded her in death. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Helms Funeral Home Chapel at Linden, with Rev. Willis Syphers officiating. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.
