Charles I. Patton died at the home of his father, Thomas Patton, in Browns Valley at 2 o'clock on Monday afternoon. Mr. Patton has been in failing health for several months. A short stay at the Robert Long Hospital made an apparent improvement but shortly after his return he was seized with his last illness which lasted about 3 weeks. Funeral services at Browns Valley Baptist Church on Wednesday afternoon were conducted by Rev. WH Tatem of Terre Haute. Burial at Indian Creek Cemetery. Charles I. Patton was the son of Thomas and Lucy Ann Patton. He was born near Browns Valley May 9, 1866. April 18, 1893 he married Mrs. Naomi Clements, to them were born 6 children: Mrs Harry Parrett, Thayren, Evan, Charlene, Robert and Charles all of whom were present at the funeral. There is also a step-daughter, Mrs. Irene McMillen of New Richmond. They lived at Browns Valley where Mr. Patton was a stock dealer, afterwards moving to Crawfordsville where he was deputy sheriff for two terms under Charles Davis. For the past 15 years his home has been in Waveland where he has been engaged in various lines of business. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge. - kbz
