Hiram H. PALIN 88 who lived for years near Newtown in Richland Twp and who was noted for years as a breeder of fine race horses died at six o'clock Wed evening of last week at the family residence in Wingate. He had been in failing health since June 4 when he suffered a stroke of paralysis and his condition became critical a week ago when he suffered a second stroke. Mr. Palin was born Jan 10, 1837 on a farm two and one-half miles east of Newtown and he resided on the farm continuously until 7 years ago when he retired and moved to Wingate. He was united in marriage April 26, 1860 to Louisa M. Jones. Four children were born to this union two died in infancy and two daughters, Mrs. James Twiddy and Mrs. Charles Finfrock preceded their father in death. Mrs. Palin died 1886. He was wedded for the second time on June 8, 1887 to Lottie E. Scott 5 children being born to this union all of whom with the widow survive. They are: Lou Helen residing at home; H. Scott Palin; H. Ben Palin; Harry W. Palin and Mrs. Raymond Fenters all residing in the Wingate community. Mr. Palin was the last survivor of a family of 8 children. He had always taken a deep interest in the affairs of his community and was extensively known as a breeder and raised of a fine line of race horses while he resided on the farm. - transcribed by kbz
