Wingate, Sept. 19--Charles D. Oxley, 71, died suddenly this afternoon while working with his son, Harold, at the Harry Wilson residence near Wingate. Oxley was stricken by a heart attack and died before medical aid could be summoned. Born at Elmdale, Aug. 1, 1876, he was the son of James and Jo Anne Dilling Oxley. He moved to Wingate with his parents when still a small boy. He married Nora Elmore in Crawfordsville, who survives. He was a member of the Methodist church, the I. O. O. F. and Masonic lodges in Wingate. Surviving besides the widow are a son, Harold J., of Wingate, two sisters, Mrs. Maude Bankson of Lafayette and Mrs. Pauline Myerly of Indianapolis, and a brother, Austin of Wingate. Two grandsons also survive. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock (CDT) at the Methodist church in Wingate with Rev. Claude J. Eaton, the pastor, in charge. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery. The body will lie in state for one hour at the church preceding the services. Friends may call at the family residence after 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon.
