OXLEY, Sarah A.

Mrs. Sarah A. Oxley died here at her home, that of her son and daughter’s two and a half times north of Jamestown, Friday morning at the age of 75 years 10 months 14 days.  She was born in Ohio Feb 11, 1824 and moved in early childhood, with her parents to Montgomery County, Ind.  Sarah A. Carle her maiden name was married to NJ Oxley in 1842.  To this union were born 9 children, of whom six are now living, two having died in childhood and oldest son, Dr. JH Oxley once a practicing physician at this place died 10 years ago. The husband preceded her to the great beyond 12 years ago. She was an earnest Christian woman. She first united with the Methodist Church and about 30 years ago she and husband united with the New Christian Church at Pleasant View, Boone County of which denomination she was ever after a member. She lived trusting in the Savior, who redeemed her and expressed a willingness to go saying that all was well with her.  She was ever a tender and loving mother and kind to all who knew her. She bore her suffering with great patience.  Burial took place at Oakland cemetery, six miles north of Waynetown Saturday afternoon, accompanied to the burial by her children and relatives to the number of 15. --–kbz
