Dr. Henry Oxley, of Wingate, died Monday after an illness of several weeks. Everyone knew Dr. Oxley. He was kind and always had a good word to say. He was a soldier and lost a leg in the service, defending his country.   –-- kbz

Dr. Henry Oxley of Wingate died on Aug 5.  He was a member of Co K, 86th Indiana Regiment and lost a leg at the battle of Stone River, Dec 31, 1862. –-- kbz
