NEW RICHMOND — Clifford Oswalt, 61, of Lafayette, formerly of near New Richmond, died of a heart attack at 2 p. m. Saturday as he was being brought to a physician here. Born in Jackson Township, Tippecanoe County, Jan. 22, 1899, he lost his mother at birth and was reared in the home of an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Oswalt. Mrs. Oswalt died within a few years and her husband reared the boy. He was married in 1919 to Pearl Church. Mr. Oswalt and his uncle were in the trucking business in this community for some years. He moved in 1946 to his farm in Jackson Township and about a year ago to Lafayette, where he had been employed at the Alcoa plant. Mr. Oswalt was a member of the New Richmond Methodist Church. Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Frank Cope of near New Richmond; a stepson, Roy Church of Lafayette, and 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Friends may call after 4 p. m. Tuesday at the Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette, where services are set for 3 p. m. Wednesday with burial in the New Richmond Cemetery.
