Charles N. Oswalt, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Oswalt, was born near Waynetown, Ind., Aug. 24, 1871, and departed this life at his home in New Richmond, Ind., Sunday morning, June 2, 1946, being at the time of his death 74 years of age. He was thrice married, first to Minnie Howey on Feb. 9, 1889, who departed this life Dec. 9, 1917. On June 24, 1926, he was united in marriage to Bertha M. Kirkpatrick, who survives. Several years ago he knew his Christ and became a member of the New Richmond Methodist church and remained a member of the same until death. Those remaining to mourn their loss besides the above mentioned widow, are a daughter, Alice Mae Stair, of Lafayette; one son, Clifford, of New Richmond; a nephew, Roy Lester, whom he reared and fathered; three half-brothers, Ray, of West Point, Vern of Brown's Valley, and John, of New Market, other relatives and a host of friends. Mr. Oswalt, known as Charley by his friends, was always jovial and neighborly, a good citizen and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. We too, shall come to the river side, One by one. We are nearing its waters each eventide, One by one. We can hear the roar and the dash of the stream, Ever and again through our life's deep dream. Sometimes the waters all the banks o'reflow, Sometimes in small ripples the small waves go, One by one. Serving as pall bearers were L. E. Binns, Robert Aaron, Milford Stephenson, Milford Perry, Roy Church and Oscar Cochran. Card of Thanks I wish to express my thanks and appreciation to all my friends and neighbors and the ladies of Center church, also Rev. Schank, Mr. King, Dr. H. D. Kendell and the undertaker for their many offerings of flowers, sympathy and contributions during the illness and death of my husband, Charles N. Oswalt. --Mrs. Bertha M. Oswalt and Children.
