Osborne - Carl

A damper was put on football enthusiasm in this section by the death of Carl Osborne at Bellow Saturday afternoon. He was playing quarter back with the Marshall boys against the Bellmore team. He tackled a runner just after the kickoff in the second half. He staggered and fell and when the boys reached him, he was dead. A broken rib had pierced his heart. He was a senior in the Marshall HS and one of the best players on the team. His sister teaches at No 2 in Green Township. There were two other deaths form football the same day, making 14 for the season. Amusement comes high. We appreciate this more now that death has claimed a neighbor boy. – kbz
