NEW RICHMOND, Ind. (CNS) — Mrs. Helen L. Oppy, 53, of New Richmond, died Friday morning (May 27, 1971) at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. She had been in ill health several months. Born March 1, 1918 near Elmdale, she was the daughter of Sherman and Fannie Belle Watts Lane. She married Thomas J. Oppy April 8, 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1959. Mrs. Oppy was a member of the New Richmond united Methodist Church and of the Eastern Star 377. She owned and operated the Oppy Hardware store in New Richmond. She was a graduate of Wingate High in 1936. Surviving are a son, Thomas J. of Fowler; four daughters, Mrs. Sandra Connally of Muncie, Mrs. Sharon Carey of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Shelia Fenters of New Richmond, and Sonya at home; two brothers, Beck and Bill, both of New Richmond; a sister, Mrs. Louis Kunkle of New Richmond; and eight grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown. The Rev. Dale Seslar will officiate. Burial will be in the New Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Montgomery County Cancer Fund. - kbz

New RIchmond - Mrs. Helen L. Oppy, 53 of New Richmond, died at 10:40 a.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. She had been ill several months. Mrs. Oppy, owner and operator of Oppy Hardware Store was born near Elmdale. She graduated from Wingate HS in 1936. In 1939 she married Thomas J. Oppy who died in 1959. She was a member of New Richmond United Methodist Church and also a member and past worthy matron of OES 377. Surviving are one son, Thomas J. of Fowler, four daughters, Mrs. Sandra Connally of Muncie, Mrs. Sharon Carey of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Sheila Fenters of New RIchmond and Sonya Oppy at home; two brothers, Beck Lane and Bill Lane, both of New Richmond and one sister, Mrs. Lois Kunkle of New Richmond. - kbz
