Oliver - Henry Clay

THORNTOWN – Henry Clay Oliver, 93, a resident of Putnam County nearly all his life, died at 10:10 a.m. Monday in Bowles Nursing Home at Clarks Hill. He had been in reclining health the last two years. Until two years ago he lived in the Bainbridge community of Putnam County. He farmed all his life and many years ago was a road supervisor and for a time sexton of the Bainbridge Cemetery. A son of James Henry and Sarah Catherine Wilson Oliver, he was born April 18, 1876. He was married Oct. 14, 1897 to Anna Brown, who died Oct. 19, 1962. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Richardson of Rt. 2, Thorntown; two grandsons, Stanley Richardson of Max and Arthur Richardson of Frankfort; a brother, Dexter Oliver of near Delphi, and a sister, Mrs. Earl Hartman of Thorntown. Three brothers, a sister and a great-grandson are deceased. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Bainbridge Christian Church with Rev. George Pyke of Fillmore officiating and burial in Brick Chapel Cemetery. --– jlr
