John L. OLDSHUE of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away Wednesday. His death was caused from a cerebral hemorrhage which he suffered Friday of last week. Mr. Oldshue is a former resident of Waveland and since leaving here he has kept in close contact with his friends through the columns of the Independent. Besides the widow he is survived by two children, Mrs. AE Wells of St. Pete and a son Foster Oldshue of Indianapolis. The funeral party will arrive in Indianapolis Sat. and the body will be brought to the Machledt Funeral Home here. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Presbyterian Church of which he was a former member.

John L. OLDSHUE, a former Waveland resident succumbed at his home in St. Petersburg, FL on Tuesday of last week. His death was caused from a cerebral hemorrhage with which he was stricken the preceding Friday. Mr. Oldshue was the last of the children of Jacob and Mary Barnes Oldshue and was born SW of Waveland March 8, 1862. He attended the common school at Guion and Wabash College. He married Mary Canine Aug 9, 1890 and to this couple 3 children were born: Vera Belle, who died in 1890 at the age of 5; Foster Oldshue of Indianapolis and Mrs. Arthur Lewis Wells of St. Pet. There is also one grandson, William Richard Oldshue. Mr. Oldshue was interested in all public affairs and was generous and hospitable as well as a considerate neighbor. He was a progressive and successful farmer and one of the first to cooperate with Purdue University in its agricultural extension program. On account of failing health he retired from active management of his farm and after spending several winters in Florida, he bought a home in St. Pete, where he transferred his membership from the local Presbyterian Church to one in that city and belonged to the Florida Indiana Society and the Three Quarter Century Club. On Aug 6, 1940 Mr. and Mrs. Oldshue celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at their St Pete home with an open house and a dinner for immediate friends. He leaves a wide circle of friends and acquantances both here and in Florida who regret his passing. A funeral service was held at the St. Pete home on Wed. morning in charge of Rev. David McClure, pastor of the Presbyterian Church and a retired minister, . JA Kistler of Indianapolis. The body was brought here on Saturday and was deposited in the family mausoleum in Old Union Cemetery following services in the Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon with Elder Cornelius Airhart and Rev. John Servies in charge. Mr. Walker presided at the paino, and Miss Virginia Moore sang My Faith Looks Up to Thee and Jesus Savior, Pilot Me. Honorary pall bearers were WY Durham; Tom Garland; Charles Kritz; BM Harbeson; UG Vail; George Cowan; TE Huston; JVS Milligan and . JS Noblitt. Active pall bearers were Frank Wilkinson; Fred Priebe; Alonzo Deere; Robert McMurray; Edgar Pitts; Ira Sharp; Lee Foster and Ollie Wilkinson. Flower bearers were jean Spencer; Mrs. Fred Priebe; Helen Kelso; mrs. AC Deere; Mrs Ira Sharp; Mrs. Damon Booher; Mrs. Robert McMurray; Mrs. Ray Miller; Mrs. Helen Gevers; Mrs Clyde Kessler; Mrs. Nell Mason; Mrs. William Peck; Mrs. Harry Machledt; Mrs. Lee Foster and Blanche and Martha Glover.
