Charles H. Oglesbee, son of Hiram and Susan Oglesbee was born in Greene County, Ohio near Xenia Aug 14, 1860. Died May 3, 1917, aged 56Y 9M 11D. He was the second of a family of six, the only sister preceding him some 22 years ago. His father died two years ago and there is also gone before a little granddaughter, Evelyn Lenore Oglesbee. He married Miss Eva Davis Nov 22, 1882. Two children were born to them, William Oglesbee and Mrs. Blanche Reddish. They lived in Brown Township until about 12 years ago when they moved to Waveland. Mrs. Oglesbee died Jan 31, 1909. Mr. Oglesbee was a charter member of the Browns Valley Christian Church but moved his membership to the Waveland Church on moving here. He was a member of Waveland Lodge No. 300 F & AM Rathbone Lodge Knights of Pythias and Modern Woodmen. Nov 6, 1909, he married Mrs. Belle Shaul. The wife, the aged mother, the son, the daughter, four grandsons and four brothers, Will and Harry Oglesbee of Xenia, Lester Oglesbee of Jamestown, OH and Edward Oglesbee of Danville, Indiana, the son-in-law, the daughter-in-law, two stepsons and many friends are left to mourn his loss. During his illness of six weeks his suffering was intense, but he bore it patiently, always considerate of those ministering to him. He was of a kindly, unselfish disposition, possessing many friends, and will be greatly missed in the community. Funeral services at the home on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 were conducted by Rev. EE Moorman of the Englewood Christian Church of Indianapolis, assisted by Rev. OS Stewart. Interment at Freedom Cemetery. Those from a distance were: Mrs. Susan Oglesbee and Harry Oglesbee of Xenia, O, Lester Oglesbee and daughter, Mrs. Leona Padgett of Jamestown, O; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Oglesbee of Danville, Ind.; Harry Shaul of Wichita, Ks and Dr. and Mrs. Cyril Reddish of Frankfort. - transcribed by kbz
