Ogle - Samuel

Samuel Ogle, age 67 well known retired mail carrier and life-long resident of Montgomery County died at 1:35 o'clock Monday afternoon at Culver Hospital where he had been a patience since Thursday. Mr. Ogle submitted to a major operation Saturday. Mr. Ogle who was born on a farm near Wingate Sept 5, 1875 was the only son of James and Elizabeth Ogle, pioneer residents of that neighborhood. Leaving the farm, he became a rural route carrier out of Wingate and served the patrons on the Wingate rural route for a period of 32 years. Since his retirement a few years ago, Mr. Ogle had resided at 809 W. Pike Street in Crawfordsville. Long active in Republican politics, he served as precinct committeeman at Wingate for many years and since coming to Crawfordsville had served as the committeeman for his precinct here. Mr. Ogle was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star at Wingate. He also hjeld membership in the Methodist Church. He had served for many years as president of the Building and Loan Association at Wingate. Mr. Ogle was married to Miss Ethel Myers of Hillsboro 22 years ago. The widow survives together with their only daughter, Miss Mary Marthaline Ogle, a student in Indiana State Teachers college from which she will be graduated next February. Services in Mr. Ogle's memory will be held Wednesday at the home 809 W. Pike the Rev. Homer P. Ivey pastor of Trinity Methodist Church will be in charge. Burial will be at Wingate (sic). Note: He is buried in Division 2, Lot 152 Bed 1 in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery - Cloe Ethel is there in Bed 2.
