Birth: Aug. 28, 1930 Death: Jun. 24, 1954 Second Lieutenant O'Connor was a member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. On June 24, 1954, he noticed that a comrade had been injured in the demilitarized zone (DMZ) by an enemy anti-personnel mine. He was attempting to rescue the victim when he accidentally set off another anti-personnel mine killing him. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.

Source: Waveland Independent Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana Aug 26, 1954 Monday Aug 15 the funeral rites were held in Sheridan for Lt. Keith W. CONNER, age 22 who died of multiple mine injuries. Lt. Conner had been in Korea since last December. His wife lives in Sheridan. Also surviving are a sister in Germany; a brother and his mother of Phoenix, AZ. His father who is deceased will be remembered in Waveland as Harry Conner and his mother also of Waveland was Alta Merrill. - typed by kbz
